Our company and it’s community are proud to announce a product prototype in development that we are very excited and passionate about called “Mega City Hero”.  It allows a secure network of trusted professional experts and creative kids around the world (8 yrs +) to share ideas about future cities using twenty-first century skills through a safe, exciting, easy-to-use and highly interactive program.

Children can only participate in adult-facilitated groups, registered through their school or after-school programs.

Mega City Hero encourages critical thinking around questions that have no single right answer, creative approaches to science, technology, engineering and maths with current affairs relevancy, story telling in new media, deep social science and ‘active citizenship’ experiences and exposure to the global community, and laying a strong foundation in 21st century skills.

We beleive it is crucial that Mega City Hero’s inter-activity is as much an “offline community and group experience”, as it is on-line.   Mega City Hero ‘challenges’ the children to solve problems related to urban sustainability and then share those creative projects (communicated in a range of media) with other children and guiding/mentoring professional experts throughout the world.

We tested with paper prototypes in São Paulo throughout 2008 and finalized the design of an online prototype version one in 2009.

The online component is currently in development, through 2010, in partnership with a technology company in Australia, with support from ICON, ACT, Australia.  The full Mega City Hero experience will include some TV event elements that are being developed in Los Angeles, USA.

This prototype will be in English for select test groups in Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, UK and India, with some Portuguese for groups in Brazil.  The first tests will focus primarily on groups in São Paulo and New York, with tiered subscriptions so that less-resourced schools and centers can connect and play for free.

The final product will be for use by all countries, and we aim to keep adding different language versions as resources permit.  Check out the pics and mail us if you want to find out more.
